ABOUT RAGHEAD

By Tom Coasch

“A veiled woman, a firefighter, a blind date. Cue the veiled references”

Raghead was written in response to a real actor’s experience with wearing a headdress while preparing for a role. It’s ability to shine a light on Islamphobia while also tackling the microaggressions faced by women and people of colour comes as a punch to the gut. A blind date provides the perfect mundane backdrop, an everyday scene, stunted by the crude reality of prejudice. (Lena Slanisky, Director)
