WHAT IS WOMANHOOD: 

Womanhood is qualities considered natural and characteristic of a woman. It is often considered collectively – woman lumped together. Who is to say what is natural and characteristic of this particular gender? Womanhood is breaking through the mold of what is appropriate and expected to become a strong independent identity. Woman who come from all walks of life can walk together.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT WOMANHOOD:

Womanhood is an evening dedicated to performances about the female identities. Womanhood hopes to shed light on how experiences make up the DNA of what is femininity.

Womanhood is an evening of theatre, food and music. There will be one short play centred around the female survivors of sexual abuse and another about a young woman’s struggle with Islamophobia in New York City post 9/11. Womanhood’s mission is to raise awareness of the real woman in the city who fight to foster their identity through their struggles. Womanhood hopes to leave the audiences’ eyes opened wide and inspires those to share each woman’s powerful story with the city.

We will also be having music, 50/50 draw as well as a silent auction with some lovely items donated by some awesome people!

The proceeds from Womanhood’s fundraising event will be donated to The Redwood Women’s Shelter in Toronto.  The Redwood is haven to help women and children live free from domestic abuse, fear and threat. The Redwood operates within an anti-racist oppressive framework and are committed to social change through education and action.
